David Y. Mitchell, PhD
Dr. David Mitchell is the President and Owner of Mitchell Pharmaceutical Consulting, LLC. Dr. Mitchell has over 20 years of pharmaceutical and biotechnology experience in project leadership, clinical pharmacology, and strategic drug development from candidate selection through commercialization. He has proven leadership and team building expertise, excellent problem solving and implementing capability, with a broad range of experience in clinical pharmacology. A strategic thinker, Dr. Mitchell understands the big picture, adjusts quickly to rapidly changing situations, and completes objectives in a timely, cost effective and quality manner. Dr. Mitchell is a leader within the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), and is currently the President of AAPS.
Dr. Mitchell has held project leadership roles at Array BioPharma, OSI Pharmaceuticals, and Pfizer, and has directed clinical pharmacology programs at Pfizer and Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals in the areas of oncology, neuroscience, and bone disease. His research interests include optimization of the drug development process, pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, drug metabolism, population approaches to data analysis, and regulatory sciences. Dr. Mitchell has over 60 published manuscripts, chapters, and abstracts in the areas of metabolism, toxicology, pharmacokinetics, and epidemiology.
Dr. Mitchell is a member of various professional organizations including American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), American Society of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics (ASCPT), and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Dr. Mitchell is currently serving as an AAPS President and member of the AAPS Executive Council. Previously, Dr. Mitchell has served as President-Elect and Member at Large on the Executive Council, the co-chair and chair of the AAPS Annual Meeting, and chair of the Program Coordination Commitee. Additionally, he has served as vice-chair, chair-elect, chair, and past chair for the Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics and Drug Metabolism Scientific Section (PPDM), as PPDM Secretary/Treasurer, and as a reviewer of AAPS/PPDM Annual Meeting abstracts for 12 years.
